Indeed, the lives of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) have prominent influence all over the history of Muslims and its effectiveness will certainly be continued at the end of this universe. The study of their lives, customs, traditions and beliefs is an essential part to present the perfect, complete and true picture of Islamic culture and society. It is also dire need of modern Islamic society that its growth and development should be made sure through the implementation of true spirit by following the commands of Allah which has been revealed upon Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and practiced throughout the best era of al-Khulafāʾ ar-Rāšidūn. A number of books has about this period has been written by several authors but the literacy work of Ibn Ḥajar al-'Asqalānī is remarkable and prominent. His distinguish name is authentic as narrator of Hadith. “AL-ISĀBA FĪ TAM’YĪZ AS-SAḤĀBAH" is his subtle and splendid have a good materials related to that era. He devoted forty years of his life for the composition of this masterpiece. His critical, analytical, unique methodology and best memory made this book more beneficial and fruitful for the study of knowledge of the companion of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). This is a basic source and comprehensive book which revealed the history through the chain of narrators. In this article, the methodology of Ibn Ḥajar al-'Asqalānī ‘s above mentioned book has been discussed because the unique distribution of chapters made this book difficult for the students of ḥadīth and Sīrah. It is a great contribution for researchers of this field and so many new aspects also come out in this respect.
