ENGLISH: Dignity of Mosques: A Review Based on Quran and Hadith

Abstract

Every religion has its own rituals and symbols. Similarly, Mosque is an important ritual of Islam. There are several verses of Holy Quran and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regarding the position and status of mosques. In past, it was the great contribution of mosques that apart from daily prayers these mosques groomed the personality of Muslim and created a brilliant impact on the society. But nowadays we are not gaining as much as one can gain from these institutions in the past. It is time revise the purpose of mosque in the society instead of locking the mosques after payers. Because mosques are not for prayers only but to groom the personalities. This is a review paper based on the core teachings of Islam on the position and status of mosques for Muslims.
